Biofeedback
Biofeedback training provides an opportunity to learn to control the physical state of one's body. By using sensitive instruments to measure various physiological states and feeding them back to the person via a computer, the individual can learn how to change the measures. With practice, the individual can gain the ability to regulate those functions. Physical parameters which can be monitored include:
- Respiration
- Heart Rate Variability
- Muscle Tension
- Body Temperature
- Galvanic Skin Response (skin conductance)
How We Do it
Non-invasive sensors are attached to the surface of the skin and measure one or more physiological states, including skin temperature, skin conductance, muscle tension, heart rate, and respiration.

The results are displayed on a monitor providing a visual representation of how the body responds to various situations. With this information and the trainer’s guidance, the individual learns the skills needed to self-regulate and control measured parameters.
Biofeedback has been proven effective in reducing symptoms of the following:
- Pain in various locations
- TMJ Pain, Tension Headaches, Muscle Tension, Muscle Spasms, Fibromyalgia
- Migraine Headaches, Raynaud’s Disease
- Stress related body responses
- Anxiety related responses
Typically, 8 to 12 biofeedback training sessions are needed to see a significant improvement in the above listed conditions/symptoms.
